Grace M. Farney

Grace M. Farney, age 88, of Rankin, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on January 7, 1935, in Warren Co., IN, the daughter of George D. and Sarah M. (Hinton) Troxel. Grace married Benjamin William Farney on December 6, 1953, in Cissna Park. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1998. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Cuccaro of Wickenburg, AZ, and Charlene Farney of Bondville, IL; three sons, William Farney (Vickie Jennings) of Wellington, IL, Benjy Farney of Rankin, IL, and Charles Farney of Lake Sherwood, MO; a daughter-in-law, Becky Farney Hendershott of Paxton, IL; one brother, Ronald “Butch” (Darlene) Troxel of Olive Branch, MS; one sister, Barbara (Ronald) Morger of Casa Grande, AZ; two brothers-in-law, Frederick Knapp of Eureka, IL, and Frank Baker of Jeromesville, OH; and a sister-in-law, Clara Bodager of Lexington, KY. Grace is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, Abby Duitsman, Hallie Johnson, Chad Warnick, Scott Cuccaro, Timothy “T.J.” Farney, Waylon Jennings, McKenzie Watson, McKaylah Stewart, Brandon Farney, Tyson Farney, Jessica Mills, Tomas Farney, Faith Delay, Benjamin Farney, and Mariah Farney; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Graig Johnson; one son, Todd Farney; seven brothers, Orville Troxel, Harold “Dewey” Troxel, Robert Troxel, Bill Troxel, Charles Troxel, Donald Troxel and Leonard Troxel; one sister, Gladys Sargent; and many nieces and nephews. Grace was a member of the American Agriculture Movement. In her earlier years, she was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and enjoyed attending her Coffee Club in Cissna Park. She loved quilting, and often made quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 2:00pm – 6:00pm, at Cox-Knapp Funeral Home in Rankin. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 10:00 am, with additional visitation one hour prior, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park. Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Carle Cancer Institute.
