Lucille M. Symmonds Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lucille M. Symmonds, age 97, of Paxton, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center. She was born on November 15, 1924 in Rankin, the daughter of Fred and Julia (Collins) Christensen. She is survived by two children, Jan Ruffner of Urbana and Les (Debbie) Symmonds of Rankin; five grandchildren, Tate Ruffner and Brian Ruffner, both of Urbana, Nathan (Hannah) Symmonds of Rankin, Shelby Symmonds (Bradlee Herman) of Wellington, and Zachary (Amanda) Ellis of Jacksonville, FL; and six great-grandchildren, Noah Wolf of Rantoul, Maverick and Bryson Symmonds of Rankin, Hailey Ellis of Paxton, and Emersyn Herman of Wellington. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, Melvin Symmonds; one daughter, Sally Symmonds; one grandson, Michael Symmonds; and three brothers, Harold Christensen, Earl Christensen, and Clarence Christensen. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rankin, and a recent member of First Lutheran Church in Paxton. She was also a member of Bid n’ Buy Bridge Club, East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board, Paxton Thrift Store Board, and Health Alliance Advisory Board. Lucille enjoyed crosswords and jigsaw puzzles, as well as, sewing and crewel embroidery. Most importantly, she loved babysitting her grandchildren and spending precious time with her family. Lucille will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 12:00pm until the 1:00pm funeral service, at Cox-Knapp Funeral Home in Paxton (142 W. Patton St.). Burial will follow at Rankin Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in Paxton or Grace Lutheran Church in Rankin.
