Neoma I. Balk

August 24, 1928 - April 2, 2021

Neoma I. Balk, 92, of Buckley, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton Senior Living. She was born on August 24, 1928 in Onarga Township, the daughter of Henry and Lydia (Wagner) Becker. She married Merton W. Balk on June 8, 1947 at St. John Lutheran Church in Buckley. He survives. Along with her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jim (Donna) Balk of Buckley, Steve (Bonnie) Balk of Buckley; one son-in-law, Butch Cook of Casa Grande, AZ; and one sister-in-law Elda Scharlau; 8 grandchildren, Jenny Jamison, Kerry Wise, Doug (Amanda) Balk, Mike (Kirstin) Cook, Michelle Cass, Chris (Kelli) Cook, Jesse (Abby) Balk, and Kori (Kyle) Walder; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jean Cook; one brother, Herb Becker; and one sister, Ruth Becker. Neoma was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church for over 60 years. She also helped with farming with her husband for many years before retiring. Neoma enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also known to be a great cook. She loved to cook for her family and being able to spend that time together. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Buckley. Funeral Services will be held on April 5, 2021 at 2:00pm following the visitation at St. John's Lutheran Church in Buckley. Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff will be officiating.
